Pintail's facility navigation app is now live at Constellium. On 27 October 2026 every user was invited and the old app was switched off. Alongside built the new app for Pintail, a company that makes tools for industrial sites.
What is the Pintail facility navigation app?
An industrial plant is a hard place to find your way around. Gates, docks, restricted areas and roads change, and a driver who has never been there is easily sent to the wrong door. The Pintail Navigation App gives drivers and visitors directions to the right gate or dock, on a map the plant can keep up to date.
It also shows closures and traffic changes, and it works in several languages. Drivers see the site's terms of use and entry conditions in the app, and safety messages can be shared with visitors.
What went live at Constellium?
Three things went live on the same day:
- the new app, with an admin portal for the plant and an app for drivers;
- every user, invited by email;
- the end of the old app, which is now off.
The plant team can send messages to drivers, load schedules with an import file, and manage the site map. We also prepared posters and user manuals for the plant, and a support address for questions.
Before go-live we showed the app to Constellium. The driver app and the new import feature were well received.
Why did Pintail rebuild the app?
Pintail already had a working app, built by another team. We took it over and did two things. First, we rebuilt what it did, so nobody lost a feature they relied on. That took about eight weeks. Then we spent a week on improvements. Only after that did we ask the users to move.
We also took care of what a plant cares about most: who can log in, which facility each person can see, and what each person is allowed to do.
How did the project run?
We started working with Pintail in May 2026, and the full build began in the summer. Each week we sent Pintail a short status update, and on 27 October we sent the go-live one.
The team was split across Portugal and Vietnam, with product management, engineering, design and testing working from the same board.
What comes next for Pintail?
Navigation is the first half of the platform. The second half is Flyway, which locates forklifts, assets and tagged inventory on a site. That is the next thing we are building with Pintail.
Where Alongside fits
Pintail needed a team that could take over a live product, keep it running, and build the next one on top of it. That is the work we do in product development.
